Increase gradually rather than in steps.
Build recovery deliberately into a training week rather than taking it only when forced.

Track something. A simple log of sessions, how you felt, and sleep gives you a record to look back at when symptoms appear, and the pattern is frequently obvious in hindsight.
When to get assessed
Discomfort that persists beyond a couple of weeks despite adjusting load, symptoms that are progressing, or anything affecting how you move warrants professional assessment rather than continued self-management.
